With over 1,000 satisfied clients across California and beyond, we understand the importance of comprehensive skin protection. One of the most crucial aspects of skincare is sunscreen use. Here, we share our expert tips to ensure your skin stays healthy and radiant.

Why Sunscreen is Non-Negotiable

Sunscreen is your first line of defense against harmful UV rays. These rays can cause premature aging, hyperpigmentation, and even skin cancer. Regardless of the weather or your skin type, wearing sunscreen daily is essential. UV rays penetrate clouds and windows, meaning you’re exposed even on overcast days or indoors.

Choosing the Right Sunscreen

When selecting a sunscreen, consider the following factors:

  1. Broad-Spectrum Protection: Ensure your sunscreen protects against both UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays contribute to aging, while UVB rays cause burns. Both can lead to skin cancer.

  2. SPF 30 or Higher: An SPF of 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays. Higher SPFs offer slightly more protection but no sunscreen blocks 100% of UV rays.

  3. Water Resistance: If you’re swimming or sweating, a water-resistant sunscreen is a must. Reapply every two hours, or immediately after swimming or sweating.

  4. Ingredients: For sensitive skin, opt for sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, which are less likely to cause irritation.

How to Apply Sunscreen Correctly

  1. Apply Generously: Use about a shot glass worth of sunscreen to cover your entire body. For your face, a nickel-sized amount should suffice.

  2. Don’t Forget Key Areas: Commonly missed spots include the ears, neck, back of the hands, and tops of the feet. Be thorough to ensure full protection.

  3. Reapply Regularly: Sunscreen wears off after a couple of hours, especially if you’re outdoors. Reapply every two hours and immediately after swimming or sweating.

  4. Daily Routine: Incorporate sunscreen into your daily skincare routine. Apply it after your moisturizer but before makeup.

Beyond Sunscreen: Additional Sun Protection Tips

  • Wear Protective Clothing: Long-sleeved shirts, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses offer extra protection.

  • Seek Shade: Avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours (10 AM to 4 PM).

  • Be Mindful of Reflection: Surfaces like water, sand, and snow reflect UV rays, increasing exposure.

FACECO’s Commitment to Your Skin Health

At FACECO, we are dedicated to helping you achieve and maintain healthy, glowing skin. Our services, including our specialized buccal massage, are designed to enhance your natural beauty through holistic and organic methods.

Regular facial massages not only relax you but also accelerate your skin's metabolism and promote faster cell regeneration. This means that skin cells renew more quickly, helping to fade pigmentation and other stagnant processes. Regular massages can make your skin more resilient to sun exposure, potentially reducing the need for heavy sunscreen application. By enhancing your skin's natural renewal process, massages help maintain a healthy, youthful glow, making them an essential part of your skincare routine.
